Network testing

Request network test records that match your installed labels

Connect test results to the locations your operations team will actually use.

Test results are difficult to apply when their identifiers do not match the labels in the building. The owner may receive a large set of files without being able to locate the connection a result describes. Agree on the naming relationship before testing begins.

Compare one sample record

Ask the project team to walk through a sample result, its installed endpoint, and the corresponding drawing entry. Confirm how the test scope and selected test basis are identified. The responsible testing team should explain what the record establishes.

Use that review to catch differences in room names, cabinet identifiers, or numbering conventions while they are still easy to resolve.

Make exceptions traceable

A retest or corrected identifier should remain connected to the final installed connection. Agree on how the project will distinguish superseded records from the accepted set.

During handoff, confirm that the owner can open the files and locate a result using the identifiers available in the field. Keep unresolved mismatches on an assigned list rather than assuming someone will recognize them later.

Practical takeaway

Review a sample test record against the drawing and installed label before the full closeout package is assembled.
